Yes! And... The modern business environment changes so rapidly, people cannot rely on planning alone

“In the long history of humankind  those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed”

Charles Darwin

Prepare Your People to Improvise

Plans change. Unexpected events happen. People cannot rely on planning alone, they also need to be able to improvise. In our Applied Improvisation course we develop improvisational skills in the classroom to build peoples’ confidence to improvise in business.  As a consequence, they are better able to:

  • Respond to unexpected events

  • Solve problems

  • Create and innovate

  • Complete tasks

  • Take sensible risks

  • Work as a team

For some people, improvisation seems natural and for others it can feel very difficult. We gradually develop the confidence to improvise and often find that those who at first lack confidence are able to perform better than many others. However, this course is not just about performance and enjoyment. Throughout we encourage people to relate their learning back to work so that they can become more agile in business situations. So if you have a group that are not so flexible, this course may be what they need.

Improvisation integrates Thinking Flexibly, Communicating Powerfully or Acting with Agility, because it helps to develop all three of these leadership aspects.

Our diagram should help you to understand how improvisation can relate to business.

“Very good day, well-organised and great people running the course”
